who would have thought?

it has been over a week since i last had time to post but what a week it has been. craig's little brother scott got his mission call in november 2007 to argentina, cordoba mission. last sunday was his farewell talk, and he did an amazing job. the entire meeting was great. we had a nice time visiting craig's home ward and after church visiting with many family members. we had a great time giving advice and showing our appreciation to scott. many tears were shed and lots of laughter was shared. it was a great day. after being home for a few hours i got a phone call from dad (because he knows we don't have tv) letting us know that PRESIDENT HINCKLEY had passed away. i ran and told craig and then went into our family room where the boys were hanging out and told them. this is the part that totally amazed me, both caleb and zach started to cry. not just a few tears falling down their cheeks, no, i am talking full on weeping & sobbing. i was taken off guard, i knew they would have fond thoughts of president hinckley but never in a million years would i have thought this would be the reaction. we sat and talked for quite a while about how great the reunion for president hinckley must have been. i had to stop and think about their reaction and realized this is the ony prophet they had known, and what a man he was. craig and i have tried to mention president hinckley often in our home we have photos of him and i really think that all the children grew to love him dearly. as we all did. we ended up listening to ksl radio for about 2.5 hours after the first news of his death. caleb woke up early and turned it back on. it was like they couldn't get enough of his life story. they truly admired this wonderful man. although i was shocked to see their reaction i don't know that i could have imagined it being any different. they loved him.

over the past few days i have been completely loved listening to every tribute to our wonderful prophet, i wanted to add a few that i thought were really touching. here they are...

Prophetic Passing

I imagine he's running to Marjorie now,

Yes, running, not waving his cane.

I see him embracing his father and mother

While they keep repeating his name.

I see him now meeting his fore bearers,

Brother Brigham and Joseph are there.

Sweet reunion of prophets, united by service

That only such noble men share.

I see him embraced by the Savior

While Father says, "Good and well done.

So faithful in stalwart endurance, I welcome

My noble, most excellent son."

I then hear the ripples of laughter

As he says the reception's just fine,

But he hopes that he'll get an assignment or two

Since there's no need to waste any time.

I can hear his clear voice in the stillness

At the close of this sweet Sabbath day,

Have faith and move forward - there's work to be done.

President Hinckley would want it that way.
